My original post wasn't about economic downturns. It was about why smart Republicans were staying out of this election cycle, and I suggested the economy was an important reason for that.
I also alluded to the fact that the traditional Republican establishment no longer needs its far right wing, and is busy stuffing that genii back into the bottle until it's needed again.
But that was obviously not what you wanted to talk about. At least, it wasn't in one of your prepared scripts.
