Re: Solar flare coming
I live in eternal fear of this day. It's like the next Big One here in California - we all know it's coming, all the signs say it's right around the corner, and we all know no matter how much we prepare, it's going to do some major damage.
Think about it. In 1869, that flare wrecked the telegraph system, causing it to spark, shock people, and set fire to everything the wires touched. Now, think about what would happen if that occurred today in a world more heavily reliant on electronics. 1989 was a smaller flare, and it still did a good bit of damage and disruption.
