You have to admit...

Sting looked like he was really having a good time. The man was chewing up the scenery, overacting, mugging, hamming it up. He stole the show. Not even the actors playing Baron Harkonnen or Piter de Vries came close.

I must agree, the cinematic Dune was a spectacular failure, but the visual feel of the film, the textures of the interiors, the tech, costumes, Arrakis itself, were eerily like how I had visualized them while originally reading the novel. It was telepathic, either the production designer of the film thinks exactly the way I do, or Herbert had found a way of conveying the appearance of the Dune Universe accurately through prose.

The TV version was dramatically superior, still spectacularly beautiful, but that's just not how I imagined it would be like.
