If someone is drilling multiple two-inch holes in the bottom of a water barrel, one after the other, is the most important issue how hard the rain is falling into the barrel?
We are spending over a trillion dollars more a year than we were ten years ago. Every year. This number is increasing each year.
We were told in 2010 that the effect of extending all the Bush tax cuts would be about $3.7 trillion over the next ten years, an average of $370 billion a year.
The smallest CBO predicted deficit over that time under Obama's spending plans, which includes killing the Bush tax cuts for the rich, is almost $500 billion.
This is of course assuming that hundreds of billions in the hands of politicians would do as much good as leaving that money in the private sector, a whole different thread.
I'm really running out of ways to put this.
