I'll tell you what happens. A group of economists paint a known false forecast as to what a particular loan will do. The loan is made, which is scammed off by the political leadership. The IMF and World Bank know this will happen.
The country defaults. The IMF and World Bank go in and negotiate enormous concessions from the same leadership which made off with the loans. The people of the country have now become economic slaves to megacorporations.
The beauty of it is that it was taxpayers funds which made the loans in the first place. So the extremely wealthy become wealthier, the poor get poorer, and as with wars, they don't even have to use their own money.
That's capitalism, enslaving the Third World, spreading freedom, democracy, women's rights, civil rights and human rights. Brings a tear to your eye, doesn't it.
