Yep, and I have the JBIS collection to prove it.
I was a member for a few years in the '80s, and collected a nice stack of the Journal of the British Interplanetary Society, including the one with the paper on "zero-point energy" that inspired Clarke's Songs of Distant Earth and too many sci-fi cliches to count.
It really was an eye-opener to find my way to the headwaters of so many streams of scientific and science fictionish thought. The BIS is a planetary treasure few people have ever heard of.
