McCarthyism is a tried and true form of demagoguery. Even if you can beat it in the court of public opinion, or even in the courts itself,
the battle will be costly, and some of the wounds will never heal. This is deliberate and calculated. You can't send your enmenies to the Gulag in AMerica, but you can wreck their careers.
