There's always been a good-natured rivalry between NASA scientists and engineers.
But in my opinion, this mission was an engineering triumph, the engineers deserve full bragging rights. After all, the only science involved was Newton's Laws. But putting together this mission, vehicle and landing; the research, design, engineering, fabrication and testing; was magnificent.
The science weenies will get their chance to catch up when they start extracting information from the data coming back from Curiosity's labs and sensors and try to make sense of it all.
