You can usually solve the resources problem by telling Roxio not to run in the task bar. This option should be in settings, or tools.
If there is still a problem you can use msconfig, via start/run to stop it from running on start-up. This will not affect the program. You just start it when you wish to use it.
Too many programs want to run in the background for auto updates and auto start when the program suspects you want to burn a disk.
