Your speculations are the same as mine.
If you'd like to see other imagery, go to the layers pane and go to "Global Maps", expand and choose from the options. Daytime infrared shows good detail and contrast. (As you know, we often use infrared photos here on earth as they can show differences in bedrock better than other wavelengths.)
