The slippery slope argument

The problem nobody really thinks about is that we have carved away any reason for why people should not be able to form legal unions of any combination or number.

Not that this would cause the fall of civilization either (in Heinlein's "Moon is a Harsh Mistress" most marriages are complicated combinations). But we might end up finding out just how "tolerant" the Enlightened are.

I've never seen a rational reason why marijuana and alcohol should be treated any differently in the legal realm. Same for this. If a guy can marry another guy, why can't he marry his brother? Because it's morally wrong? Illegal? Sorry, those ships got scuttled.

I've noticed more than a few liberals (not here) who tout the beauties of gay marriage, but for some odd reason get all bent out of shape about polygamy.
