Not sure what people are expecting.
Early, provisional, and vote by mail are at all-time highs. All of these, particularly provisional ballots, take time to count.
It is depressing how many people feel ready to vote many weeks ahead of time. It basically announces "I don't care what I might learn. My mind is made up." (I'm not talking about those who legitimately have no access to conventional polling places.)
