Its the old King David, Bathsheba, and Uriah the Hittite story with some modern variations.
When the camera panned around Jill Kelly's waterfront mansion I recognized it as being on Bayshore Boulevard, Tampa's most posh neighborhood, where all the "nice folks", the "civic and business leaders" live--and just up the road from MacDill AFB, US Central Command Headquarters. There's probably an influential social clique there centered around military charities and their entrpreneurial philanthropic sponsors.
Personally, I don't care if the General was having an affair, it has absolutely nothing to do with how well he does his job, its a personal matter between him and his family, and Broadwell and hers. But its nice to see all that grand talk about military "honor" and "code" exposed for the hypocritical sham it really is. Powerful, dynamic, attractive people thrown into each other's company may very well succumb to sexual temptation. That's certainly understandable, and you have to admit, Paula is a babe!. But anonymous poison pen emails to rivals? That's real high scool stuff.
Ms Broadwell is certainly a part of that patrician leadership class mystique, she's a full colonel in the Army Reserve, and a West Point graduate. Class will out.
