That is an intriguing picture.
There's what seems to be an igneous rock in the center, sedimentary rocks around it, some weathered rocks and some with sharp edges not exposed to much weathering. Clearly a windy area, as some areas are swept clean of dust, but then some areas aren't.
The finger looks to be "underweathered", or a layer with the supporting material eroded away, but it doesn't seem to have been much of a layer with that being the only remnant.
I wish I knew something about geology.
