Border immigration is down, in fact, more Mexicans have left the US than have entered it, lately! This may be partly due to government action, or to a weakening US economy, but still it is a fact. Deportations are higher than ever under the Obama administration, and spending on border security is up.

The more I think about it, this border security razzle-dazzle is to guarantee those who exploit Mexican illegal labor have unfettered access to it, and the Daddy Warbucks Establishment of the GOP is using it as a sop to the TParty types so they will just shut up and get out of the way.
