You don't have to agree with them to respect that position. The Catholics feel the same way. I don't agree with them either, but I don't question their motives.

But the evangelical Right believe their religion gives them the right to force those who don't accept it to do what they want. And when they can't get a majority in a democracy to accept their religious views, they are ready to use legislative dirty tricks to force their views on everybody else. I saw it happen with Civil Rights, and now its happening with Women's Rights and gay Rights. (Remember, its not just abortion they are trying to stop, but contraception and sex education, too.)

I know these people, Jody. I was brought up with them. They are sexually dysfunctional because of their caveman religion, and their problem is not about morality or religion. They are simply furious that there are people out there screwing and getting away with it and they couldn't. This is not a thorny philosophical or political conflict, they are just psychologically crippled.
