Way back when, you had to go into BIOS and change the boot order.

It's been a long time but I think on the first computer I built I had to change the boot order to CD before I could install Windows(98) from a CD.

I wonder if your new E: drive shows up in the boot menu. I really don't know anything, just thinking out loud.
