offended is too strong a word I think, perhaps mildly annoyed
Romney saying Let Detroit go bankrupt does not imply a wish. It simply meant that he did not favor any kind of bail out. I'm sure he would wish that Detroit were not in the situation that they are in.
If you meant to say Romney was right this time, maybe we got the wrong impression.
