I think we're going to have live with it and we might as well learn to deal with the problems that will arise. You'll probably hear a lot of "I told you so's".
And I happen to agree with you on military spending. Maybe not cut by half but seriously reduced. Would have to happen slowly. Remember Buck saying we can't layoff government workers because it will hurt the economy? Same thing with down sizing the armed forces. Unlike gov workers, cuts to the military will directly affect GDP. If it ever happens, contractors would have to be weaned.
