Why not France? They are moaning over the atrocities and I suspect they have the ability to take out Syria's chemical facilities and delivery systems.
I disagree that Iraq II was as damaging to us as you perceive. Bush takes the hit from ROW and Iraq is glad Saddam is gone. It was a financial disaster more than a fp disaster.
I supported the war based on a regime change and never bought into the WMD thing. I also said at the outset we had to be out in a year or two stretching it. We easily won the war in the allotted time but I hope we have learned, once and for all that we are damn good warriors and piss poor policemen. Bottom line in retro it was a bad choice
As for our so called greedy oil based motivation. The smart, pragmatic play would have been to prop up Saddam and turn him into a client state that would have been far more stable than what we have now.
