How do you think the dwindling middle class was formed in the US?

A strong middle class is often credited with being the strength of America. The current (and past) Conservative war on the middle class is what is creating the current imbalance in wealth distribution.

Thereby weakening the US.

But seriously, how do you think the middle class came about?
