A local hero.
Born in Boulder, got degrees from CU, has <a href="https://bouldercolorado.gov/parks-rec/scott-carpenter-park rel="nofollow">a park named after him; which I used to walk through back when I was in Grad School. Note the rocket in the playground:
Boulder Creek runs through this park, so 'natch, it got flooded last month. But the rocket is fine, sittin' on the high ground.
