Based on size it doesn't look good
This size crater is made by asteroids from around 3 to 6 feet in diameter and on earth the atmosphere breaks them up, so it looks like the rate of impacts for this size between Mars and Earth is substantial if they found over 200 impacts in one year on Mars. One has to note that those new impact craters only include a portion of the Martian surface.
The recent meteor over Russia was thought to be around 60 feet in diameter.
Looks like a underground base is the way to go, possibly utilizing volcanic vent tunnels/lava flows or deep caves leading to caverns.
