In a very narrow sense you may be partly correct.
As the only species capable of recognizing and preventing global warming, regardless of the cause, we are culpable.
Even if we had not caused it, we would be responsible. Similar to a comet slated to collide with Earth. We're the only folks around capable of diverting it (possibly) and if we don't we're culpable.
