Seen Alan Arkin's "Papi?"
Down and out Cuban widower with two young sons. It was a short-lived TV series in the early 70s.
In the movie, he comes up with the idea of saving his sons from poverty by sending them to sea in a small boat and making them new Cuban refugees. But then there's that nasty Gulf Stream, which takes the poorly provisioned kids on an unexpected and nearly deadly journey north.
