Breakfast test for any new restaurant . . .
Western Omelet, Whole Wheat Toast w/Orange Marmalade, Hash Browns, Black Coffee.
Don't even check the menu, because -- and I have no idea why -- quite often, the famous Western Omelet will not be listed. Still, any cook worth his salt -- or Mrs. Dash -- could do this with his eyes closed. If they screw it up, you're in the wrong house.
There's a crumbling diner I frequent, just for that perfect breakfast. Well, they don't have the marmalade, but the omelet is great.
