Did you pick up a distinct Firefly vibe among the crew? Even though they kept staging cockpit scenes to precisely mimic all those scenes in the Millenium Falcon to evoke IV-VI, their personality "layout" and interpersonal relationships mapped pretty well to Firefly. Geek Girl, Femme Fatale, Raging Psycopath, Stoic Captain, Lost Waif (transmogrified to a male). Not to mention the whole scratching-out-a-living-in-the-shadows avoiding AllianceImperial entanglements flying around in a beatup rustbucket schtick. If frontier planets start looking (more) like the Old West, Joss Whedon could sue.
