I don't see how software might fit in, but I certainly see and decry the takeover of education by the oligarchs. They want a profitable utilitarian focus on skills valuable to their businesses, obviously. And it's not too much of a stretch to imagine that they see the downside to a broadly-educated workforce well-informed about history and able to judge the world they find themselves burdened with. Some oligarchs starting to have fevered dreams of pitchforks and torches. Again. Nothing would serve the oligarchy better than to wipe all memory of the mid-20th century and the now-mythical "broadly-shared prosperity".
Of course, to be fair, there are a few rare reports of billionaires expressing some concern about the consequences of inequality. Their insight isn't always in service of greed. There are tales, perhaps merely born of desperation, of the Wandering Billionaire, a Cassandra making the rounds of his fellow CEOs warning of the dangers of squeezing the middle class too tightly.
