Socialism teaches there can be no liberty without equality.
Corporations are not people, and money is not free speech. The South fought a Civil War because they felt they were entitled to the freedom to own people. They weren't, and they lost.
The rich have the right to accumulate as much wealth as they want. But they do not have the right to use that wealth to make sure no one else gets any. Otherwise, the world would become a prison yard full of bullies, the few using their strength and power to make sure the many remained weak and beaten down. And when challenged, they would only say "Quit your whining, you can be a bully too, nobody's stopping you from being strong and ruthless. If I can do it, you can do it too, unless you're weak and lazy or stupid."
Socialism does not say the wealth should be divided equally. It doesn't even say the wealth should be passed out to those who need it most. It simply says the wealth should be mostly given to those who do the most to create it. And that those who already have all the wealth should not be the ones who get to decide who gets it.
