Amazon released all ten episodes at once, catering to binge-watchers among the cord-cutters. I was struck at the start of the third episode by the way it just jumped right in, literally picking up in mid-stride a hike through the woods that began in the previous episode. No recap of "last week on Man in the High Castle...", because they expect people to have just finished the previous episode, and would only get impatient with a recap. They just slice the episodes at close to the one-hour mark.
So, as much as I'd prefer to savor the show by stretching it out over a few weeks, I'm feeling a slight pressure to watch it in a hurry so that I don't lose continuity.
To avoid spoilers,I'll just say that the third episode was relatively quiet, focusing on the relationship between Julianne and Joe, and introducing Torchwood's Kai Owens as a nastily delicious villain. The fourth episode is full of action, a lot of it takes place in San Francisco, and most closely resembles the second episode. Small themes in the third, big themes in the fourth, possibly establishing a pattern for the show.
My general impression is that so far the show is delivering on the promise of the pilot, albeit at a measured pace that suggests they're in it for the long haul. I'm enjoying it and expect to continue enjoying it, and recommend Man in the High Castle.
