And regarding your point, consider there are parts of the universe we'll never see because the amount of time it takes for light to get here from there exceeds the age of the universe. IOW, the universe may be bigger than it is older (due to Cosmic Inflation).

Just remember, once you realize the water is over your head, it really doesn't matter how deep it is.
