I think they have woke up, as evidenced by the futile and pathetic attempts during last night's debate to reverse the Trumpster. Its just too late to do anything about it.
You're right, RL. The Trump phenomenon is NOT about an outraged electorate suddenly realizing the system is corrupt and needs to be changed. Although that could be legitimately said about Bernie Sanders' supporters.
The conservative monster has been deliberately, systematically and very expertly built up and stoked to a fever pitch for the most cynical and opportunistic of political purposes: to influence tax, labor and regulatory policy to favor big business, and to obscure the havoc that pro-business bias has already created in the fabric of the nation. This isn't about abortion or religion or defense or even the very legitimate issues of budgets and deficits and debt. The beast has been created and set loose on the world simply because the Daddy Warbucks caste doesn't think its profits are high enough yet. And you know they never will be.
And now the monster is out of control and turning on Herr Doktor Frankenstein himself. The irony of it all is delicious, except that the creature threatens not just those gave it birth, but the nation, and even the planet, itself.
