The German people knew exactly what was going on. The supported the wars, enjoyed the increased economic activity. Anti-semitism was a tenet of the National Socialist party since 1920, and was not repudiated at the polls.

Additionally, Jewish servants were sprinkled throughout the population, as those were about the only jobs they could hold.
No one is so dumb as to not know what was going on. The rhetoric was broadcast, the people were disappearing, and information was leaking.
It is a convenient fiction that they did not know of nor did they support Hitler's anti-Semitic agenda. They did. Just as the supported the wars as long as they won. Most, not all but most, of them were guilty.
It's true that after a while they had no choice in the matter, but when they did have a choice they supported the Nazi policies.
