There is no such thing as a battlefield any more. The enemy doesn't wear uniforms. War is dirty, no honer. It's house to house, fighting an insurgency.

Everyone knows the term "human shields" They are used extensively by IS.

Civilians will be killed no matter how hard we try to avoid it (I believe we do). If civilian deaths are unacceptable there is no military solution. So what's the answer? Appeasement? Or just learn to live with the evil.
