If I had the spare cash I'd do this as well. I hadn't heard of this project though, but have heard a lot about 23andme. It would be really interesting to compare results from both sources.
My own ancestry back several hundred years has been meticulously recorded. Its one benefit of growing up Mormon. Further than 1500 it gets very murky. The scandinavian patronymics dead end after a while.
