As I think I've said before, I favor the "carrot" approach--nurturing relationships with Muslims who promote reform, making quiet but genuine offers of asylum to those in the Muslim world who may be in danger because of their criticism of Islam.
I doubt your average Mohammed-in-the-street gives a damn about what some dumb cracker says (and frankly I can't blame them)...but voices from within the Muslim world, that could be a different story.
