The trouble with spending cuts is that they're nonbinding. Another Congress will come along in a couple of years and completely undo them. Remember how most of the so called cuts from a few months back were nothing but smoke and mirros?
The only way to stop this nonsense is to not raise the debt ceiling. Everything else is political theater.
