There have been three destroyers in the US Navy named after ADM George Dewey. This was the first, a pre-WWII rat can...
My Dewey (DLG 14, later reclassified DDG 45) was the second,
she was decommissioned and broken up for scrap twenty years ago.
The latest Dewey (DDG 105) is one of the newest, most lethal and advanced Arleigh Burke class missile destroyers in the fleet.
This is her CO, CDR Abigail Hutchins.
You know, what really blows my mind about CDR Hutchins is not that she's a lady, but that she's so goddamn young.
It wasn't like this in the old Navy.
