The issue is not whether or not Trump is an ass. That goes without saying. The real problem is that this ass has a strong following, and that he is one random crisis or October surprise away from becoming President.

THAT is the fundamental problem, and it is not a problem that will go away if Trump is defeated at the polls this time around, regardless of how soundly or completely he is defeated. Sooner or later, some random disaster or minor crisis will strike that will open the door for Trump, or someone like him.

We live in a society that has no grasp of the flow and complexity of history. Its an all-or-nothing, instant gratification, short attention span, easy solution electorate; one that demands demons and messiahs, scapegoats and saviors to explain our problems and deliver us from them.

There is an endless supply of Trumps out there, lining up to take his place. All its going to take is one of them.
