One note though, at the end where you suppose they use DTED/Ms for the Z-component: Sure, in fully-synthetic imagery. But I'm pretty sure this video derived depth information solely from parallax. The author didn't describe his technique, though, but I think it's reasonable to suppose it's the old technique involving stereo pairs and some trig--weren't you able to derive fairly accurate elevation info from stereo pairs?
