Gringos can't seem to stand hearing other people talking in a language other than theirs, even if the conversation is between other people and has nothing to do with them. They seem to think that people are talking behind their backs about THEM, as if anybody really gave a shit. And as this video demonstrates, what REALLY pisses them off is that the "foreigner" often turns out to speak better English than they do.

On the other hand, when they go to a foreign country as tourists, they expect every bartender, waiter, taxi driver, shopkeeper and desk clerk should be perfectly fluent in English and be instantly ready to service their every need. And of course, when the foreigner does speak English, they make fun of his accent and criticize his grammar.
