They use lies to stroke themselves into a frenzy... mobilize their base- it doesn't matter how absurd the lies are, or even if they really believe it- 'Pizza-gate', 'Obama is a muslim', 'Obama was born in Kenya', Obama was a gay heroin junkie prostitute', 'Hillary had Vince Foster killed', 'Newtown massacre was a false flag' and on and on...

The lies just give them a pretext for committing atrocities- They know we don't believe the lies. For the most part THEY don't believe the lies...

It's nothing more than masturbatory fantasies that make them feel good, and give them an excuse to act on the worst instincts of their nature.

Us: "The Republican candidate is unqualified and spouting racist memes on twitter"
Them:"You can't criticize OUR excesses! YOUR candidate sold children for sex out of a pizza parlor!"
Us: "Wait... what?!"
Them: "Its true, I read it on the internets- just look at the google!"
Us: "Wait, you actually believe THAT??!!"
Them: "Of course! Thats why we go to these hateful extremes!"
US: "But... That is so obviously bullshit that a lunatic made up!"
Them: "No it isnt!"
Us: "YES, it is!"
Them: "No it isnt!"
Us: "YES, it is!"

....and so on... they win because the discussion topic has been changed from their real and documented sins, to the fictional insane stories they invented about the left.
