I see. They're editorializing just because you don't agree with their conclusions. Had you agreed with their conclusions, you would have conveniently found data to back up their position. So go at it like you agree and FIND the data to back them up. AFTER you've made a FAIR and I do mean FAIR try at it, if there is still no data, I might listen to you. Think outside that box you've got yourself in.
