I don't think its fair to accuse these people of ignorance of these issues.
I think they are perfectly aware of the science and the consequences, they just don't give a shit. We've seen that same obstinacy and smug arrogance on display right here on the Zone. I could forgive ignorance. This is much worse.
These people are careerists. Not only do they consider their own prosperity and influence more important than humanity's welfare, they have total contempt for anyone who doesn't feel the same way. And either they don't have kids, or they just don't give a fuck what happens to them.
