No matter how much Alabamaniacs complain about the low opinion the world holds of their state, it's only going to get worse, because win or lose for Roy Moore, what counts is that he had a real shot at the US Senate. Viciously stupid? Or stupidly vicious?

If I had to go to Alabama (and for personal reasons that's actually seriously possible), any time I saw two people, I'd always wonder, which one is the stupidly vicious one? Because history will record that today, just about half the voters of Alabama voted for Roy Moore. Whether he wins will depends entirely on the Democratic turnout. Decency is a variable, but vicious stupidity is a constant.
