To use the example that was annoying you, the top quintile of households in this country pays 69 percent of ALL Federal taxes, including payroll, corporate, and excise. If we're just talking income tax, it's 86 percent. The top quintile's share of income is 56 percent. This does not require "interpretation." It's arithmetic. It's rational from the ground up.
