The compressed air used to be free.
And the attendant had a job, in fact thousands of attendants, people with no skills, had jobs. Today, they are all out of work, and the air costs a buck and a half. I guess that's progress.
OTOH, at my Publix there are baggers, usually special needs people or otherwise unemployable seniors, teenagers and minorities. I think that's progressive.
