Clear and cold (In the 50s) and fast approaching midnight local time.
The moon is almost directly overhead, and close to totality (only a sliver of white limb is still visible). It looks like what Mars might look like from an approaching spacecraft--rusty red, with a gleaming white icecap at one end. This is the darkest, reddest lunar eclipse I've ever seen, and I've seen about a dozen of them. No two are the same.
