There was a very cool book . . .

I read it long ago in my youth titled "Daybreak 2250 A.D." by Andre Norton.

It involved a young man in a post-apocalyptic environment -- supposedly Earth. People were living as one might image cave dwellers a hundred thousand years ago. He was a curious fellow and enjoyed hunting and adventure. His hunting companion was a Siamese cat, weighing in at approx. 200 lbs. Big, powerful hunter.

Amazon has it!

Pretty cool book for a kid.
