LiDAR is already being used in conjunction with AR/ VR for purposes of urban maintenance and archaeology. I've also seen multiple instances of AR in fiction being used by mechanics on the job to pull up specs and part IDs.

I wasn't expecting the use of pack-robots in geology, though. Nifty!
